Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has became the leading run scorer in T20 internationals. He reached to this remarkable feat on Wednesday in 2nd T20 of SA tour of India match being played at Mohali.
After opting to bat first, Indian captain Kohli scored 72* runs in the innings. This is also the high score of today’s match. South Africa skipper scored 52 runs of just 37 balls but Kohli was the leading run scorer of today. He is also having most runs in the ongoing series.
India won the match by seven wickets. Kohli for his tremendous performance was awarded with man of the match award. South African captain on losing said,
“We have made a good start. At the latter end of the innings, India did good bowling. We will try to do good in the next match.”
Kohli became the first man to score 20,000 international runs. His total international runs were 20,502 in August, vs West Indies series. Adding up his today’s score, Kohli’s total in international cricket is 20,574. Virat Kohli has summed up 2369 T20 runs to 2441 T20 runs as he added up 72 runs today. This might have been a little more but the first match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
When called up for post match conversation, he said,
“It was a slightly better pitch and outfield was quicker. After facing a good start from South Africa, our new faces have shown their talent”
When asked about his consistency with the bat, he replied,
“My badge infront of my shirt, that is India, provied me with the motivation to play for my country. No matter if you are hitting boundaries or running for singles, your better mindset can take your team upto the line”.
