IPL holds a special place for Australia players as most of the players they have got in the cash-rich league are Australians. Steve Smith, the Australian player, who plays for Rajhastan Royals, prefers IPL over domestic cricket of his country.
Steve Smith prefers IPL over domestic cricket
“I think when you’re playing for your country at a World Cup, that’s the pinnacle for one-day or T20 cricket, so of course I’d prefer to play in that. But if that doesn’t happen and the IPL’s there, and they postpone it, then so be it.
Steve Smith termed IPL as a terrific tournament and discussed the league is out of player’s control amidst the situation.
“IPL’s a terrific tournament as a domestic tournament. So that’s out of everyone’s control at the moment, players are just doing what we’re told and going where we need to go and playing whatever’s on at that stage,” said Smith as quoted by Times Now.
Earlier, the cash-rich league was all set to be commenced by 29th March but the several extensions in the lockdown by the Indian government shifted it to three possible windows which unfortunately remained vacant as the situations are still worst. BCCI is now looking fo the window of September-November as reports suggest that ICC could cancel the T20 World Cup.
