Notably, the decision on the mega-event that was to be held in September at UAE, was being deferred. It held many problems regarding the venues as well as before UAE, Pakistan was supposed to host the tournament.

As India denied visiting Pakistan amidst the political tensions, the hosting rights got shifted to either UAE or Sri Lanka.

“Asia Cup has been canceled,” claimed Ganguly just a day before the scheduled Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting.

He believes that the safety of the players amidst the Coronavirus is more preferred rather than continuing the cricket season. The president is unsure about when the cricket will be commenced in India.

“It’s difficult to say which will be India’s first international series. We’ve done our preparations but we can’t do much till we know the government rules. We are not in a hurry because the health of players is of the utmost importance. We are monitoring things monthly,” he added.
