Shoaib Akhtar, a former pace talent from Pakistan has lashed out at the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi for wanting him to continue the PSL neglecting the threats of COVID-19.
Javed Afridi in a meeting of all franchises owner and the management raised a point over the situation so the matches can go ahead. The PSL was remaining with only semi-finals and finals but, was called-off indefinitley due to outbreak of COVID-19. Javed Afridi wanted it to go ahead.
“I back the decision to postpone the league but on a personal note I was in favour of holding the remaining matches as well. While we were discussing this issue in meeting with other PSL franchises and PCB, I raised the point that it is just a matter of 48 hours, so let the PSL conclude in a better way,” said Afridi.
However, Shoaib Akhtar did not seem to be happy by him and replied,
“One of the team owner (Javed Afridi) is still saying that the remaining matches shall also have taken place. Imagine if this outbreak had spread in the stadium, be it Karachi or Lahore.”
Earlier, PSL’s few matches were played behind close doors due to COVID-19 but has been now postponed.
