The Pakistan Super League (PSL) management seems in no mood to add one more franchise in the league either for PSL 2020 or for the upcoming editions.
“The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) shot callers currently have no plans of adding a seventh franchise to the fold,” the league’s project executive Shoaib Naveed was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
PCB started initially with only five teams however, Multan Sultans were added in the third edition that was played in 2018. When asked about increasing one more franchise, Naveed responded negatively saying no such plans exist until we get the handsome audience and surplus promotion of the league.
“We will take this decision after discussing it with franchises and assessing the appetite for additional teams in terms of fan experience and commercial perspective,” Naveed told the publication.
“Currently, we have no plans about adding another team in next edition of PSL.” He added.
The league will be initiated from February 20th, 2020 followed by an opening ceremony. The first match will be kicked off on the same day between two times PSL winners, Islamabad United and Last time trophy champions, Quetta Gladiators at National stadium.
