IPL 2020: Nothing would be a better platform for a player to practice and prove his worth for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup. Many Australian players were already waiting for the extravaganza to get started for getting their stability and to maintain order with the momentum, consistency for the T20 World Cup. With the cash-rich T20 league starting from 19th September, players have got a perfect platform to practice and prove that a lot is still left in them. It would be a golden chance for Indian batsmen as the management will have a unique look at their performances so they can be utilized in the ICC mega-event later.
The following are the batsmen that can make their places in the National squad of the Men in Blue for the upcoming event:
IPL 2020: Five Indian batsmen who need to do well for being selected in the T20 World Cup
5- Ambati Rayudu:
Being a player for IPL for a decade, he has gained vast experience and might be helpful to the squad in the T20 World Cup. With a super 3,300 runs only in 147 matches, he could lead the side from the front only if he will continue the IPL 2020 up to the expectations. However, he played the last T20I in October 2015, but a surplus season might attract the management.
4- Suryakumar Yadav:
1,548 runs in 85 matches, and adding some more this season might open a vacancy for him to be selected in the T20 World Cup squad of Men in Blue. Never being selected on an international level for India might need more of his hard work. If he manages to impress the management, he might be chose to anchor the innings from top-order. While being a good player of spin, he might be helpful to the squad on UAE pitches. He has been highly consistent in his IPL squad, and one more excellent season could reckon him the opportunity.
3- Sanju Samson
Smashing 2,209 runs in 93 matches, Sanju Samson might be eligible for the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, he has not been utilized well in the T20I opportunities he got in India’s squad, but a good IPL this year can lead him to the desired objective. Too many players – tough selection for Team India.
2- Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant, who is most considered in the line for the wicket-keeping after Dhoni has announced retirement, will have to be prolific in IPL. To prove his worth, the player needs to maintain his strike rate and average. Already holding 1,736 runs only in 54 matches is quite impressive. Adding one some more will be beneficial to him as the management already has straight eyes on him for the T20 World Cup selection. Once he holds a poor T20 tournament record, he will be under criticism, which will make challenging for him to selecting in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.
1- Dinesh Karthik
The player with 3,654 runs in 182 matches holds the brilliant stats. His performance in IPL 2020 will directly link to his selection in the T20 World Cup. He is consider as one of the best finishers that India has. As MS Dhoni has retired, the wicketkeeping batsman might be on the list of selection on behalf of his IPL performance. However, there would be a tough competition as Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul are also in line for the same post.
